Who made the first pancake?

We all know how pancakes look like. But have you ever wondered who came with idea of this delicious food? Or did you know that pancakes are very popular around the world? Almost all countries have their own pancakes, they have different shape, size and ingredients.

It is not really known who made the first pancake. Before pancakes used to look like bread and were made from water and flour. Nowadays, pancakes which we eat are more nutritious and tasty. They usually contain milk instead of water, eggs, some spices and baking powder as a raising agent.

The pancake which we know, was probably first made by ancient Romans. Ancient Romans used to eat a simple flat bread which was made of milk, eggs, spices and flour. This ancient pancake was called by people “Alita Dolcia”. It means another sweet in Latin language. Romans sweetened pancakes with honey or they served them filled with meat or cheese.

First American Pancake
The Native American pancakes were made of corn, mostly from the blue corn. It is known that first American pancakes were eaten as soon as the first fire was built by pilgrims. These native pancakes are nothing similar to what we call today a pancake.

There are many different kinds of American pancakes. It is popular amongst many of us to add to eggs, milk, flour, spices some baking soda and batter which is later fried. Delicious pancakes are usually made in a stove top frying pan or on a hot riddle. To make them more tasty, a lot of people add some cinnamon into the batter and serve pancakes with homemade syrup. Another popular pancakes are those made with fruits. Blueberries are the most common additive. Other fruits good with pancakes are strawberries, raisins, bananas, dates or apples.
